Norwalk Man Charged With DUI After Car Strikes State Police Cruiser In New Canaan

A 31-year-old Norwalk man is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after striking a Connecticut State Police cruiser near an entrance ramp to the Merritt Parkway, New Canaan Police said.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 11 p.m. when Nicholas James Cenatiempo drove the work way in a construction zone on Old Stamford Road, according to police.

Police also discovered about a half ounce of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia in Centatiempo's vehicle.

In addition to DUI, he was charged with failure to drive upon right and unsafe backing.

He is due in court Friday, Nov. 16.
